Penetration Test

Penetration testing is an attempt to evaluate the security of an IT infrastructure by attempting to safely exploit vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities can be found in operating systems, services and application flaws, misconfigurations, or risky end-user behavior. In this context, penetration testing offered by InterProbe is useful for verifying the effectiveness of defense mechanisms as well as the end user’s adherence to security policies.

The main purpose of penetration testing is to measure the feasibility of systems or end-user compromise and to evaluate the relevant consequences such events may have on the resources or processes involved.

Penetration testing is typically performed using manual or automated technologies to systematically compromise servers, endpoints, web applications, wireless networks, network devices, mobile devices, and other potential exposure points.

Once vulnerabilities have been successfully exploited in a particular system, testers may attempt to exploit the compromised system to initiate subsequent exploits on other internal resources, particularly by attempting to obtain higher levels of vulnerabilities and gain deeper access to electronic assets and information through privilege escalation.

Information about vulnerabilities that have been successfully exploited through penetration testing is collected by InterProbe and made available to IT and network system administrators so they can draw strategic conclusions and prioritize relevant remediation efforts.
