Global Demand For AI Experts Is Increasing Day By Day
Data is more valuable on an economic and strategic basis than traditional raw materials such as oil and gold.
Pavotek and InterProbe Chairman of the Board Dr. Alper Özbilen said that the commercial value and strategic importance of artificial intelligence increases the global demand for artificial intelligence experts day by day.
Pavotek and InterProbe Chairman of the Board Dr. Alper Özbilen, in his statement on Turkey's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, said that the process of generating value from data through artificial intelligence has become the main basis for the realization of economic, technical and security-based goals.
“Data is more valuable on an economic and strategic basis than traditional raw materials such as oil and gold. Mastering the processes of producing, collecting, shaping and analyzing data is the basic condition of being strong in the 21st century.”, Özbilen said:
Artificial intelligence is a result of human intelligence like all other tools and devices developed by humanity. Artificial intelligence is aggregated, aggregate intelligence derived from data. The unpredictable increase in the power of artificial intelligence technology pushes states to take strategic decisions in this regard. Because beyond its economic importance, artificial intelligence technology is expected to have profound effects on the socio-economic structure of the 21st century in a short period of 5 to 10 years.”
“Closing the talent gap is becoming more and more important”
Alper Özbilen stated that Turkey is one of the countries that announced its national strategy regarding artificial intelligence, “With the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, Turkey has recognized the transformative power of artificial intelligence technology and its actual position in this technology. In this direction, in the national strategy, artificial intelligence has not been the subject of populist and speculative discussions, and aims, measures and targets have been listed in a consistent and realistic way.”
Pointing out that the commercial value and strategic importance of artificial intelligence increases the global demand for artificial intelligence experts, Özbilen continued his words as follows:
“Employing individuals with skills in this field goes beyond being an activity carried out by human resources departments. Reaching qualified individuals in this regard is one of the global races of states. In this race, which has become evident with the necessity of working remotely as a result of the pandemic, it is becoming more and more important to close the talent gap.
The importance of artificial intelligence technology in terms of maintaining more efficient, productive and safe processes in the civil and military fields enables artificial intelligence to move from the academic field to the commercial field. However, difficulties in accessing qualified data and uncertainties in demand make it difficult to carry out high-cost investments. In this regard, the support and purchases of the public
sector are of critical importance. Migration and destruction of qualified domestic talents and human capital should not be allowed in the light of commercialization difficulties and high resource needs. Aligning the balance between foreign investment and digital sovereignty will enable us to effectively capitalize on the age of artificial intelligence.
“It is very valuable that the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy defines international collaborations as a priority”
Pavotek and InterProbe Chairman of the Board Özbilen pointed out that the USA and partially China became an undisputed power focus on personal data in the process that became evident with social media platforms and consumer applications, and said, “Today, the world has become a 'data production center' in line with the fact that every place, from giant industrial facilities to streets, is equipped with sensors that produce data. It is unacceptable that data-based power, which unsettles even the central countries of technology, poses a risk to fundamental values such as human dignity, individual rights and democratic freedoms.”
Pointing out that democratic states and individuals demand artificial intelligence technology to comply with ethical values, Özbilen said:
“Opportunities offered by artificial intelligence technology, market volume and diplomatic, technical and economic power capacities of states will be effective in determining regional and global standards. In this context, it is very valuable that the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy defines strengthening international collaboration as a priority. Artificial intelligence is a matter of absolute supremacy or absolute defeat for societies and the states that represent them in the 21st century. Therefore, the goal should be to rank first in the world with a total and even more in-depth effort.”
